The 10th Gaby's Dance Studio's Competition and Birthday Ball was spectacular! Dancers came from far north Queensland, to southern Melbourne and everywhere in-between to help celebrate our birthday.

The weekend started with a Friday night meet and greet dance party where new friends were made and old and were reunited over food, drinks and of course dancing! The GDS team was proudly supported by Adrian from Dance Vibe NSW (www.dancevibe.com.au) who providing the music for the night. There was a great mix of musical styles, from tango to pop, which encouraged all dancers to get up on the dance floor and have a great time.

The GDS Dance Competition started bright and early on Saturday morning with the Ballroom category being the first cab of the rank. West Coast Swing was introduced for the first time in the GDS competition and there were many competitors who joined in as the new style was quite popular. The Simmering Salsa of the Street Latin set the dance floor smouldering with some very sexy dancing. The well populated Modern Jive section kept the judges on their toes due to the high standard of the dancers.

The Birthday Ball was the best yet with a delicious six course meal and dancing late into the night. It was a great chance for participants from all over Australia to meet each other and share in the enjoyment of dance. There were some great cabarets and team performances which showed off some of the very creative dancers in Australia. Thousands of dollars worth of prizes were given away including wine, electronic gadgets, dance shoe vouchers and a giant flat screen TV. The Australian theme was capped off with an delicious green and gold Australian chocolate birthday cake. It was a great night and a fabulous way to celebrate Gaby's Dance Studio's 10th Birthday!
